Vienna Board of Education Transforms Assessment Practices

In a groundbreaking move, the Board of Education for Vienna has embarked on a transformative journey to enhance student assessment practices. In partnership with international experts, they are developing the Inclusive Assessment Map (IAM), an innovative tool designed to provide a strong and equitable foundation for measuring student learning.

Drawing inspiration from Indiana's Alternate Measure (IAM) and the ethical framework proposed by Judith Hollenweger in 2016, Vienna's IAM aims to assess student achievement and growth in alignment with the state's curriculum. This comprehensive tool will empower teachers with valuable insights into students' strengths and areas for improvement.

The IAM is part of the Board of Education's ambitious goal to foster inclusion and equity in its assessment practices. The tool will provide a holistic view of students' abilities, taking into account their individual learning needs and cultural backgrounds.
