Charlotte, North Carolina – Colombia advanced to the Copa América final following a 1-0 win over Uruguay at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte North Carolina on Wednesday.
James Rodríguez served up his sixth assist of the tournament to help 10-man Colombia beat Uruguay 1-0 in Charlotte North Carolina on Wednesday to set up a final against Argentina.
Jefferson Lerma scored the winner in the 80th minute after a brilliant assist from Rodríguez, who has now been directly involved in six of Colombia's seven goals in the competition.
Uruguay, who had been the better team for much of the game, pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages but were unable to find a way past Colombia's resolute defense.
The victory was Colombia's first over Uruguay in a competitive match since 2001 and will give them a chance to win their first Copa América title since 2001.
