Jarry Hoy was born in Monkland, Ontario, Canada on July 6th, 1955.
He played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, and Chicago Blackhawks.
Hoy who worked as a Fire Marshall and a Scuba Diving instructor also helped organize the Chicago Blackhawks alumni team, arranged autograph sessions, and participated in charity events.
His son Jared played in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Ottawa 67's and the Sarnia Sting.
Hoy's Playing Career
Hoy's NHL career began with the Montreal Canadiens in the 1975–76 season, where he played for three seasons.
He was a member of the Canadiens' Stanley Cup-winning team in 1976.
After three seasons with the Canadiens, Hoy was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1978.
He played two seasons with the Flyers before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 1980.
Hoy played three seasons with the Kings before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1983.
He played two seasons with the Blackhawks before retiring in 1985.
Hoy's Post-Playing Career
After retiring from the NHL, Hoy worked as a Fire Marshall and a Scuba Diving instructor.
He also helped organize the Chicago Blackhawks alumni team, arranged autograph sessions, and participated in charity events.
Hoy died on May 17, 2023, at the age of 67.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
